Stockton Tournament - 9/11/10 - vs Chabot

This hasn't been the best tournament for the 49er's.  We've made way too many of the same mistakes, over and over so we find ourselves without a win and playing our final match.  Our opponent, Chabot hasn't won a match either, so both teams would like to leave here with at least one win.  The Chabot team only has 6 players, so it may be tough on them at this stage of the tournament.  Hopefully we are hungry and ready to do something good.

Game 1:  Megan will start us off serving.  Hailey slams one home from the middle, 1-0.  Chabot gets one down line, 1-1.  We hit one in the net to go 1-2.  We misplay one at the net and it's 1-3.  Slow on serve receive and it's 1-4.  Chabot serves net, 2-4.  Brit to serve.  Chabot misplays one at the net, 3-4.  Chabot hits long, 4 all.  Chabot can't get the pass up, 5-4.  Hailey and Taylor with a stuff and it's 6-4.  7-4 as Chabot hits net.  Ace by Brit, 8-4.  That hole in the middle showed up again, 8-5.  Chabot serves long, 9-5, Alisha to serve.  10-5 on an ace.  Chabot gets one down for 10-6.  They get one dinked over, 10-7.  Hailey slams one down, 11-7.  Hailey serves but Chabot gets it, 11-8.  Long rally, but Chabot gets the point, 11-9.  Chabot gets a block, 11-10.  K9 finishes a long rally with one down line, 12-10, Taylor to serve.  Another long rally but Chabot finds a hole, 12-11.  Chabot with a big hit, 12 all.  K9 gets it back with one from the right side, 13-12.  K9 to serve.  Chabot takes one cross court, 13 all.  Long rallies are the thing in this game, but Chabot goes wide, 14-13.  Megan serves long, 14 all.  4 hits on Chabot, 15-14, Brit serving.  Finally a long rally goes our way, 16-14.  Hailey stuffs one in the middle, 17-14.  Alisha ends another long rally with a kill, 18-14.  Hailey puts another kill down, 19-14.  Chabot gets one down, 19-15.  We let a block go down in front, 19-16.  Hailey with a dink, 20-16.  Alisha serving.  Hailey finds another hole, 21-16.  Chabot hits long, 22-16.  We lose a joust at the net, 22-17.  K9 finishes one off, 23-17.  Hailey to serve.  Chabot goes long, 24-17.  We let them dink one, 24-18.  Serve receive error, 24-19.  Hailey gets one from back row, 25-19 for the win.

Game 2:  Taking a break to just watch the game.  No blog for this one.  Doing the reporter bit gets tiring and I need a break for this one.  Back soon with the result and the blow by blow for game 3.

Well, we won 25-22 and it was fun to just sit and watch for a change.  Been a VERY long time since I've done that.  Usually keeping stats or blogging about every game.  Thought things were going to turn ugly after Megan stuck her tongue out at me!  Then she promptly shanked a pass.  She will learn that you don't mess with the big dog, bad things happen when you do!  But it all turned out good so we just need one more game and we'll have that elusive win we've been looking for.

Game 3:  Judy in to serve.  Nice joust at the net, long rally and Hailey rejects one in the middle, 1-0.  Net call on us, 1-1.  Out by Chabot, 2-1.  Brit to serve.  Rejection by Hailey and Alisha, 3-1.  chabot misplays one, 4-1.  4 hits on Chabot and it's 5-1.  Taylor slides one in, 6-1.  Hailey smashes one for 7-1.  We misplay a running 3 and it's 7-2.  Chabot finds a hole, 7-3.  7-4 on a misplay.  7-5 on a net ball, but Chabot gives it back, 8-5 with Alisha serving.  chabot goes long, 9-5.  Double on Chabot, 10-5.  Under the net call on us, 10-6.  K9 hits one in the net, 10-7.  Hailey and Taylor with a big block, 11-7.  K9 goes angle for a kill, 12-7.  Hailey serves net, 12-8.  Chabot goes wide, 13-8.  Taylor serving.  Chabot hits net, 14-8.  Taylor sneaks one over, 15-8.  Chabot in net, 16-8.  Brit hits one, 17-8.  Chabot on a lift, 18-8.  19-8 on a bad pass by Chabot.  Another bad pass makes it 20-8.  Hailey hits wide, 20-9.  Chabot hits net, 21-9 with K9 serving.  Taylor sneaks in another one, 22-9.  Long and wide by Chabot 23-9.  Brit hits one long, 23-10.  Serve receive error, 23-11.  Chabot goes long, 24-11.  Alisha get the game winner down line for a 25-11 win.

Very nice.  Guess I'm buying someone supper tonight!
