Home Game vs Laney College 9/24/2010

Tonights game is against Laney College from down in the Bay area.  Not one of the stronger teams in our conference, but you can't look past them.  Looking for the team to work on getting some better execution and limiting the self inflicted wounds tonight.

Game 1:  We start off trading points and it's a 2 all time.  Laney hits long and Yuba takes a 3-2 lead.  A bad receive by Laney and it's 4-2 with Alisha serving.  Big stuff by Taylor and Hailey and it's 5-2.  Hailey finds a hole and it's 6-2.  Another bad receive, 7-2.  Ace serve by Alisha, 8-2.  Long serve, 8-3.  Laney hits out, 9-3 with Hailey serving.  K9 finds a hole for a dink, 10-3.  Hailey serves long, 10-4.  Confusion on serve receive, 10-5.  K9 with a sharp angle shot and it's 11-5 with Taylor to serve.  Over the net call on Laney, 12-5.  Timeout Laney.  Ace by Taylor for 13-5.  Taylor puts one over from the back row, 14-5.  Laney gets one in the deep corner, 14-6.  Brit hits long, 14-7.  They called Megan in the net, 14-8.  K9 gets one when Laney touches the net, 15-8 with K9 serving.  Ace by K9, 16-8 and another timeout by Laney.  Laney hits long, 17-8.  K9 lets one land at her feet, 17-9.  What's up with that?  Laney serves out, 18-9 with Megan serving.  They call Hailey in the net, 18-10.  Lift call on Laney, 19-10 with Judy in to serve.  Laney hits long, 20-10.  Ace by Judy, 21-10.  Behind the antenna call on Laney, 22-10.  Another ace for Judy, 23-10.  We miss a pass, 23-11.  Hailey tries a dink but gets the net, 23-12.  Laney hits long, 24-12 with Alisha serving.  Long serve, 24-13.  Hailey finishes it with a deep tip for a 25-13 win. 

We still need to clean up some sloppy play.  We gave up about 7 points on sloppy execution.  That kind of play will hurt us against the better teams.

Game 2: Megan starts us off with an Ace, 1-0.  Net serve, 1-1.  Alisha hits one in the net, 1-2.  Ace by Laney, 1-3.  Another ace on the line, 1-4.  Confusion on who the hitter is by us, 1-5.  Hailey stops the bleeding with a smack down, 2-5 with Judy in to serve.  Nice stuff by Taylor but Laney digs it up and then Alisha hits one, 3-5.  Laney lands one on the end line, 3-6.  Hailey puts one down, 4-6 with Alisha serving.  Hailey hits one in the net, 4-7.  Alisha hits long from the back row, 4-8.  K9 finishes a long rally and it's 5-8 with Hailey serving.  Megan hits long, 5-9.  Laney hits long, 6-9 with Taylor serving.  Bad set draws Brit in the net, 6-10.  Net serve by Laney, 7-10 with K9 serving.  Laney gets one in a hole, 7-11.  We let a dink get by us, 7-12.  Laney gets one in the middle, 7-13.  Two hits on us, 7-14 and Coach Chapman wants a timeout to discuss the sloppy play!  Need to pick it up and right the ship here.  Alisha gets stuffed for 7-15.  Laney seems to be getting the block on our hitters now.  Laney finds that ever present hole in our middle, 7-16.  Brit gets one down from the middle, 8-16 and gets to serve.  Laney hits long, 9-16.  Block by Hailey, 10-16.  Misplayed a pass, 10-17.  Laney in the net, 11-17.  Judy in to serve.  No talking and we let one fall, 11-18.  Bad serve receive and it's 11-19.  Laney hits out, 12-19 with Alisha to serve.  Block by Taylor and Hailey, 13-19.  K9 with a tip over the block for 14-19.  Laney lets one fall, 15-19.  Timeout Laney.  Looks like the 9er's are getting back in to this.  Still need to stay focused and eliminate the silly mistakes.  Double on Laney, 16-19.  K9 rips one deep down line, 17-19.  Double set on Laney, 18-19.  Nice serving run by Alisha right now.  She has Laney out of their offense and having to work.  Net serve, yuck! 18-20.  Double on Laney again, 19-20 with Hailey serving.  Laney hits one in the net, 20 all.  K9 shanks a hit, 20-21.  Taylor puts one down, 21 all and she wins the serve.  K9 with a dribbler off the net, 22-21.  We have the lead!  Another rip down line by K9, 23-21 with Taylor seving.  Brit gets one down from the right side, 24-21.  Megan can't quite get one in the middle, sideout, 24-22.  Laney hits out, 25-22.  Too tight!  Clean it up and let's get out of here, it must be 95 in the gym tonight and no air circulating.

Game 3:  Laney serving to start the game.  Net serve, 1-0 with Judy in to serve for Yuba.  Laney gets one down out of the middle, 1-1.  Alisha gets stuffed, 1-2.  Laney serves net, 2-2 with Alisha serving.  Hailey hammers one down, 3-2.  Taylor gets one off a dink, 4-2.  Laney in the net, 5-2.  Ace!  6-2.  Laney misplays a pass, 7-2.  We get confused on an attack, 7-3.  K9 rips one down in the middle, 8-3.  Hailey serving.  We hit one in the net, 8-4.  Bad serve receive, 8-5.  Another one! 8-6.  Laney hits long, 9-6 with Taylor to serve.  4 hits on Laney, 10-6.  Megan gets a block, 11-6.  Laney hits out, 12-6.  Timeout Laney.  We are playing a little better, but still too many self inflicted mistakes.  Need to continue to clean it up out there.  The timeout pays off as we serve long, 12-7.  Hailey is blocked on a back row attempt, 12-8.  Brit gets one to go 13-8 with K9 serving.  Laney goes long, 14-8.  Brit takes one deep, 15-8.  Hailey hits net from the back row, 15-9.  Confusion on who has the middle hole again, 15-10.  Laney finds another hole, 15-11.  Alisha gets stuffed, 15-12.  Brit and Megan get a block, 16-12 with Megan serving.  Confusion again, sideout 16-13.  Alisha hits the antenna, 16-14.  Timeout Yuba.  We are making way too many mistakes and trying to rush things.  Need to just relax and take what they give us.  We're making this much harder than it needs to be.  Brit gets blocked for another Laney point, 16-15.  Alisha scores one, 17-15 with Judy serving.  Taylor slips a dump in on them and it's 18-15.  Laney hits long, 19-15.  Long serve, 19-16.  4 hits on Laney, 20-16 with Alisha to serve.  Laney hits out, 21-16.  Timeout Laney.  Laney slams one deep, 21-17.  K9 hits one long, 21-18.  Net serve by Laney, 22-18 with Hailey serving.  Long rally but Laney hits the antenna, 23-18.  They call us in the net on the block, 23-19.  K9 rips one and it's 24-19 with Taylor serving.  Laney gets one off our block, 24-20.  Megan finishes it off with a nice tip over the middle, 25-20.

No long commentary tonight, just need to get out of this heat!  Looking for somewhere or something cool right now.  Good job 9er's.  Way to get a win.
