Road Game vs Napa Valley College 9/22/10

Hello Sports Fans, here we sit in the nice new gym at Napa.  They love their green and gold color scheme.  Feel like I'm in Ireland!  OK, here's the game setting.  We traveled with only 8 players.  Not sure why, but Megan H and Dashawna didn't make the trip.  Everyone else made it here ok.  Girls are looking good in warm-up.  Word on the street is that K9 has a cold and isn't feeling real energetic.  Hope she has enough gas in the tank to get through this one.  This team is one of the main contenders in our conference and we will need to get by them to win it this year.  Doesn't appear to be anyone else from Yuba here in the crowd.  Gonna be a cheer section of 3 tonight.  Warm-up is almost over and it's GAME TIME!!!  Turn lose the dogs and let's get it on!

Game 1: We open with Megan D serving.  Confusion on D and the Storm get one down.  0-1.  K9 with a kill deep middle, Brit to serve, 1-1.  Served out, 1-2.  Hailey trys a tip but it goes out, 1-3.  K9 with a rip down line, 2-3 and K9 serving.  Storm get a dribble over the net, 2-4.  2-5 on a setter dink.  Alisha hits long, 2-6.  2-7 on a bad serve receive.  Storm hits long, 3-7 with Hailey serving.  Nice dig by Brit, good set and Alisha kills one, 4-7.  Storm gets one through our block, 4-8.  Brit with a nice kill from back row, 5-8 with Taylor serving.  Ace!, 6-8.  Long on this one and it's 6-9.  Long rally but the Storm win it, 6-10.  Bad back row attempt by K9, 6-11.  Double on us, 6-12.  Bad serve recieve, 6-13.  Bad back row attempt by Hailey, 6-14 and Coach Chapman wants a timeout to discuss this.  Need to make something happen and get out of this rotation spot.  Storm finds a hole, 6-15.  Finally, Storm puts on in the net, 7-15 with Alisha serving.  Double on Brit trying to help on the set, 7-16.  K9 can't handle a wide set, 7-17.  Storm goes long, 8-17, Megan serving.  Out by the Storm, 9-17.  We let one hit after a partial block, 9-18.  K9 puts one in the net, 9-19.  Nice setter dink, 9-20.  Brit gets one down, 10-20 with Judy coming in to serve.  K9 gets another one, 11-20.  Ace by Judy right on the line, 12-20.  K9 gets one off of the block, 13-20.  We shank a pass on D, 13-21.  Storm slams one down deep middle, 13-22.  Storm goes long, 14-22 with K9 serving.  We were in the net, 14-23.  Out wide by Napa, 15-23 with Hailey serving.  Judy with a great dig that just grazes the antenna, 15-24.  Double on Napa, 16-24 with Taylor serving.  Great bunch of digs and attempts, but the Storm prevail 16-25.  Fix just a couple of small things and we are right here running with this team.  Here comes game 2.

Game 2:  Napa opens with the serve.  K9 with a kill left handed, 1-0 with Brit serving.  Another rip by K9, 2-0.  Net serve, 1-2.  Bad serve receive, 2-2.  Another one, 2-3.  Wide serve by Napa, 3-3 with K9 serving.  Napa gets one down, 3-4.  Alisha hits net, 3-5.  Another one in the net, 3-6.  Hailey with a nice hit that the Storm dig up but then can't finish, 4-6 with Hailey serving.  Long rally with some nice digs and Alisha finishes it off, 5-6.  Megan gets in on the action with a rip, 6 all.  Another long rally but we lose this one, 6-7.  Alisha gets on off the block, 7-7 with Taylor serving.  Big rip by the Storm, 7-8.  Bad serve receive, 7-9.  Storm serves long, 8-9 with Alisha to serve.  Storm get a setter dink, 8-10.  Brit hits one long, 8-11.  Brit with a rip from the right, 9-11 with Megan D serving.  Short interuption, Napa serving, 9-13.  Storm hit the antenna, 10-13 with Judy in to serve.  Storm gets one off the block, 10-14.  10-15 as Napa gets anther one.  Hailey with a stuff, 11-15 and K9 to serve.  She serves wide, 11-16.  Alisha gets a rip cross court, 12-16 with Hailey serving.  Net serve, 12-17.  K9 called for having jewelry on during the game, not good.  12-17 as we let a serve fall.  Storm hits long, 13-17, we return the favor and it's 13-18.  Confusion on who has priority to the ball, 13-19.  Storm serve long, 14-19 with Alisha serving.  Long rally with good digs on our side, but Storm get it, 14-20.  K9 hits net, 14-21.  Timeout by Yuba.  Self inflicted wounds are killing us tonight!  Napa gets another one down, 14-22.  Double call on Napa, 15-22 with Megan serving.  Serve is long, 15-23.  Brit hits long, 15-24.  Bad serve receive, and it's a 15-25 Napa win.  We are playing hard and our hustle is good, but we just need to eliminate the silly mistakes.  Focus and let's go 9er's!

Game 3:  We open with Megan serving.  Napa scores first, 0-1.  Napa serves long, 1-1.  Judy in to serve.  Alisha gets one from back row, 2-1.  Napa answers back, 2 all.  Napa hits one in the net, K9 to serve, 3-2. Ace Ace Baby, 4-2.  Alisha and K9 with some great digs and Napa hits long, 5-2.  Napa with a bad receive, 6-2.  Hailey gets one down, 7-2.  Hailey with two block and then Napa hits long, 8-2.  Timeout for the Storm.  This is much better.  We look like we know what we're doing now.  K9 with an ace, 9-2.  Hailey with another stuff, 10-2.  K9 hits one wide from the back row, 10-3.  Called us in the net, looks like a phantom to me, 10-4.  Alisha makes them pay and it's 11-4 with Hailey serving.  In the net, 11-5.  Megan hammers one down, 12-6 with Taylor serving.  We hit out, 12-6.   I think I messed up the narative and got the score wrong.  Currently Napa serving and it's 13-8.  Napa gets one in the middle, 13-9.  13-10.  Napa in the net, 14-10 with Megan serving.  Storm gets it back, 14-11.  Storm gets one off our block, 14-12.  K9 gets one down on a dink, 15-12 with Judy serving.  Napa in the net, 16-12.  Storm hits wide, 17-12.  Long serve, 17-13.  Confusion on serve receive, 17-14.  They call us in the net, 17-15.  K9 answers with a line shot from the right side, 18-15 and K9 serving.  Napa gets one cross court, 18-16.  Napa hits wide, 19-16 Hailey serving.  In the net again.  19-17.  Napa returns the favor, 20-17 with Taylor serving.  Brit hits one in the net, 20-18.  Alisha with a tip from right side, 21-18 and she gets the serve.  Controversial call, but it's in and Napa gets the point.  21-19 but then they serve long, 22-19 and then Megan serves net, 22-20. 23-21, 23-22 when we hit out.  Napa ties it up with one off our block.  23 all.  24 all and I'm not sure how we got to this point.  I'm missing things and not sure where!  Must be my age catching up with me.  Very long rally but we lose the point, 24-25.  We hit it long on a free ball, 24-26.

Well, we know we can run with this team but we will have to clean it up to beat them.  Too many self inflicted wounds and just simple things that we didn't execute on.  Clean it up and we can get this done!  I'm off to find some italian for dinner.  See you all on Friday night.
