Away Game vs Laney College Eagles 10/27/2010

After an entertaining drive to Walnut Creek and a short ride on the BART over to Oakland, here we are at Laney College in downtown Oakland.  An interesting gym here.  It's like a bowl and all the entries come in from the top.  Fairly old since it still has wooden bleachers, but I kind of like it this way.  Call me old school, but I love the older gyms and the way they were designed.  Cozy and up close to all the action.  Here we go for Game 1.

Game 1:  Taylor starts us off with the serve.  Laney gets a rip down the middle, 0-1.  Laney gets a block on Brit, 0-2.  Out of position on D and it's 0-3.  A bad serve receive and we find ourselves down 0-4 early.  Laney serves net, 1-4 with K9 to serve.  Bad attempt on an overpass, 1-5.  Hailey gets one to fall from the back row, 2-5 with Megan to serve.  Double on Laney, 3-5.  Hailey gets one, 4-5.   Another rip in the middle by Hailey, 5-5.  Pass in the net by Laney, 6-5.  Stuff by Hailey and Brit, 7-5.  Brit hits one they can't return, 8-5.  A stuff by Hailey and Alisha makes it 9-5.  Timeout Laney!  Megan serving as we return to action.  Laney gets a tip to fall in, 9-6.  Hailey is called in the net on a stuff, 9-7.  Hailey gets it back with a block, 10-7 with Judy to serve.  Laney lets one just fall on a pass, 11-7.  Laney gets one to go deep, 11-8.  Ace by Laney, 11-9.  Laney gets another rip in the middle, 11-10.  Laney serves net, 12-10 with Alisha to serve.  Tip by K9 goes in, 13-10.  Alisha gets one down on the end line from the back row, 14-10.  Alisha serves net, 14-11.  Bad serve receive, 14-12.  K9 rips one down line, 15-12 with Hailey to serve.  Laney comes back with another rip in the middle, 15-13.  Block attempt lands just out, 15-14.  Taylor saves one with a dink, 16-14 with Taylor to serve.  Bad pass by Laney makes it 17-14.  Laney hits long, 18-14.  Laney gets one deep again, 18-15.  Long rally, but Laney hits long, 19-15.  K9 to serve.  Laney hits long again, 20-15 and timeout Laney.  K9 serving as we resume.  Setter dump to the back by Taylor makes it 21-15.  Laney gets one in the middle, 21-16.  Brit rips one from the right side, 22-16 with Megan to serve.  Net serve, 22-17.  This should not be this close, we need to pick it up.  Long serve by Laney, 23-17 with Judy in to serve.  Alisha shanks a sharp angle attempt, 23-18.  Bad serve receive and it's 23-19.  Hailey gets blocked, 23-20.  Hailey and Alisha stuff one, 24-20 with Alisha to serve.  Hailey give the libero a total facial and it's 25-20 for the win.  Hammertime may have to apologize for that one.  It looked like it may have left a mark!
