Stockton Tournament - 9/11/10 - vs Shasta College

Game 1:  Got the computer up late, so the game is under way.  We're down 5-6 but looking like we can get this together.  Slight lineup adjustment with K9 moving to OPP and Brit playing OH.  We are having a hard time getting balls to hit the floor.  Shasta is finding every hole we leave open and it's showing on the score.  It's 11-19 as coach calls a timeout.  We need to close up the holes on D and find a way to get some kills.  Serve receive is still hurting us.  12-19 as Taylor gets one to go down.  Hailey serving.  Shasta hits net, 13-19.  They hit net again, 14-19.  And again, 15-19.  They blow a serve receive, 16-19.  Ace for Hailey, 17-19.  This is much better.  Keep it going!  Shasta blocks a back row attack by Hailey, 17-20.  Two serve receive errors on us and it's 17-22.  K9 gets one from the back row, 18-22.  Taylor serves out, and it's a 18-25 loss in game 1.  We need to pick it up in game 2 and stop the bleeding from the self inflicted wounds.

Game 2: Shasta serving.  Hailey slaps one down, 1-0.  K9 to serve.  Shasta hits net, 2-0.  lift on the set, 2-1.  Shasta serves long, 3-1 and Alisha serves.  Hailey with another slap down, 4-1.  Hailey and Taylor stuff one and it's 5-1.  Shasta gets a dribbler and it's 5-2.  Hailey sneaks a dink over for 6-2.  Hailey serving.  They call us in the net, 6-3.  Shasta hits net, 7-3.  Taylor serving.  Brit gets a nice sharp angle to drop, 8-3.  Taylor serves long, 8-4.  Shasta hits long, 9-4.  Taylor tries one from back row but it's goes long, 9-5.  Hailey gets stuffed on a back row attack, 9-6.  Shasta sneak one over, 9-7.  Then they serve net, 10-8.  Something is wrong with the score, but it looks like we're up 12-8.  K9 serves, but they call us in the net on a great block, 13-9.  Well, they corrected the score again, it's now 12-10.  We get a free ball to fall, 13-10.  Alisha serves.  Shasta hits net, 14-10.  We have a conference between the refs on a call, 14-11.  Now 14-12, 14-13 on a touch of a long ball.  Taylor dinks one, 15-13 and Hailey serving.  Brit gets one down for 16-13.  Taylor snaps one down, 17-13.  Timeout Shasta.  We're looking like maybe we have got the sleepy out of us and are ready to play now.  We serve net and it's 17-14.  Brit hits long, 17-15.  Taylor gets stuff on a dump attempt, 17-16.  Taylor gets her revenge on this one, 18-16.  Brit gets one cross court, 19-16.  Shasta hits net, 20-16.  Taylor serving.  Confusion on one, 20-17.  Shasta serves long, 21-17 and Brit to serve.  Alisha hits long, 21-18.  K9 rips one from the right side, 22-18.  Megan to serve.  Called us in the net, 22-19.  Hailey with a nice hit in the middle, 23-19.  K9 to serve.  Ace Ace baby!  24-19.  Shasta finds a hole in the D again and it's 24-20.  Long rally but we lose it on a controversial call, 24-21.  K9 gets one down from back row for the game winner, 25-21.  This is better.  We need to keep up the intensity and now that we've got a win we can build on it.

Game 3:  Megan serves to start it off, but Shasta gets the point, 0-1.  Alisha hits long, 0-2.  Shasta hits long, 1-2.  Brit to serve.  Shasta scores, 1-3.  Hailey hits wide, 1-4.  We put one in the net, 1-5.  Hailey gets one down, 2-5.  Shasta hits long, 3-5.  Lineup change again, K9 is OH and Brit is OPP for this game.  Hailey gets another one, 4-5.  Hailey stuffs one for 5 all.  Alsisha serving and it's an Ace! 6-5 and Shasta calls timeout.  Shasta gets it down, 6 all.  Taylor slaps one down, 7-6.  Wait, the ref is calling for a service check, may have been someone out of rotation.  Yep, our point.  Hailey hits net on a back row attack, 7 all.  Shasta gets one, 7-8.  Lift on Shasta, 8 all.  Taylor serves.  K9 rips one down line, 9-8.  K9 hits one behind the antenna, 9 all.  Shasta scores again, 9-10.  Shasta hits long after some nice D on our side, 10 all.  Shasta gets one off our block, 10-11.  Shasta scores on in the middle, 10-12.  We hit long, 10-13.  Alisha gets one down, 11-13 and Megan to serve.  Double on Shasta, 12-13.  We let one drop on the line, 12-14.  Hailey gets stuff at the net, 12-15.  Shasta goes through our block for 12-16.  Nice rally, we win the point, 13-16.  Brit serving.  Shasta hits net, 14-16.  Go girls Go!  Shasta can't handle a C by Hailey and it's 15-16.  Alisha gets one and it's 16 all.  Timeout Shasta.  Shasta makes it count and gets one off our block, 16-17.  A bad pass and it's 16-18.  Another one, 16-19.  Another touch on a long ball, 16-20.  Shasta puts one down, 16-21.  Timout 9er's.  They get another one off our block, 16-22.  Alisha gets one down, 17-22.  Alisha to serve.  Taylor finds a hole for a dump, 18-22.  Block by Hailey and Taylor, 19-22.  We serve long, 19-23.  Hailey gets one to go, 20-23.  Hailey serve, 21-24.  We hit net, 21-25.

Game 4: We hit out on the first one, 0-1.  Ace serve, 0-2.  Another one, 0-3.  Another one, 0-4.  We misplay an attempt, 0-5, then we hit wide, 0-6.  Brit finally stops it with a nice slap.  1-6, Brit to serve.  Ace, 2-6.  We lose one, 2-7.  they block a back row attack, 2-8.  Shasta serves long, 3-8.  Alisha to serve, hits net, 3-9.  Hailey gets one to go, 4-9 and Hailey to srve.  K9 swipes one off the block, 5-9.  K9 hits net, 5-10.  Shasta hits wide, 6-10 and Taylor to serve.  Shasta hits long, 7-10.  they hit one wide, 8-10.  Hailey hits net on a back row attack, 8-11.  Shasta serves net, 9-11, K9 to serve.  Nice hit in the middle by Shasta, 9-12.  Bad pass, 9-13.  Megan gets stuffed, 9-14.  Brit hits long, 9-15 and it's timeout Yuba.  We need to settle down and just play basic ball here and we can get back in to this game.  Nope, we hit net, 9-16.  We let one drop deep, 9-17.  Brit rips one cross court, 10-17 and Megan to serve.  Shasta can't handle it, 11-17.  Shasta hits long, 12-17.  Shasta hits net, 13-17.  Hailey stuffs one in the middle, 14-17.  They get one on us, 14-18.  Hailey gets called for over the net, 14-19.  Bad pass, 14-20.  Timeout 9er's.  We are looking confused and out of synch.  Not sure if they're talking enough on the court.  Nice hit by Brit, 15-20.  Brit to serve.  Disputed call at the net, and it's our point, 16-20.  we hit wide, 16-21.  Alisha gets one down and wins the serve, 17-21.  Hailey stuffs another one, 18-21.  We leave a hole in the D, 18-22.  Hailey swipes one cross court, 19-22 and gets the serve.  Ace, 20-22.  We don't get to a deflection on a block, 20-23.  they serve net, 21-23 with Taylor to serve.  Shasta gets one in the middle, 21-24.  K9 rips one cross court from the right side and gets the serve, 22-24.  We can't handle a pass and lose it 22-25.  So it's a 1-3 loss to open the day.

OK, we need to regroup and work through the confusion and get our D in alignment.  I think we're off until 2 when we play again.  I'm looking forward to a better result in the next match.
